How the estimate works

The calculator starts with a roughly 10:1 scan-distance-to-code-size relationship and increases the recommendation when lighting, glare, or viewing angle makes scanning harder. It also enforces a practical close-range minimum.

That is a planning heuristic, not a standards guarantee. QR version, encoded data, error correction, printing process, surface curvature, camera quality, and physical damage all change real performance.

The test that matters

Export the exact production code, print it at the proposed size, and place it on the real material. Test from the expected approach angle and distance in realistic light with several phones.

For outdoor signs, test after lamination or protective coating. For packaging, test on the finished curve, seam, foil, glass, or plastic—not a flat office-paper proof.
